Knights of the Regina Coeli Council of the Knights of Columbus predominantly participate in the Father Mosley Assembly, the “Fourth Degree” of the Knights of Columbus which is “Patriotism” (the first three degrees are Charity, Unity, and Fraternity). Although other Councils participate in the Father Mosley Assembly, it is primarily composed of our Council’s Knights.
Place American flags, and change them out twice a year, at the graves of veterans at the Saint Joseph Mission Church Cemetery in Cordova and at the Saint Benedict Cemetery in Ridgely
Participate in the American Legion remembrance ceremony in Easton for the four chaplains lost in the sinking of the U.S.S. Dorchester in World War II which included a Catholic chaplain (the four chaplains stayed on the sinking ship until the very end, assisting and caring for others)
Provide financial support, send American flags, and participate in the ceremony in-person (pre-COVID) for the monument erected in Ireland and the gravestones placed for the firefighters who perished in the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Centers in New York… these firefighters were Catholics of Irish descent with dual citizenship in the United States and Ireland
Provide assigned staffing at the USO facility at Dover Air Force Base (one of many organizations operating the facility, but staffing is provided regularly at designated times and dates)
Provide shuttle bus service from the Eastern Shore for veterans to-and-from the Perry Point Veterans Medical Center… the shuttle starts in Cambridge once every three weeks and picks up veterans as it heads north toward Perry Point to provide round-trip service
Participate in a Veterans Day service at Saint Joseph Mission Church Cemetery
Paid for the installation of a flagpole for an American flag at Saint Joseph Mission Church as a Boy Scout project
Participate in Veterans Day services and ceremonies, including marching in the Easton Veterans Day parade carrying our flag
Go to Perry Point Veterans Medical Center once a month to provide birthday parties and gifts for veterans at the hospital (pre-COVID, this has been suspended, new standards have been implemented by the VA, and continuation is currently prohibited)
Participate in the Elks flag ceremony in Easton which includes all of the flags which have flown over our country up to and including the current flag
